On Tuesday 10th November the preschool was inspected by Ofsted. The Inspection report will be published in two weeks.
Our preschool children and parents visited Foal Farm. We had a wonderful day seeing the rescued animals and playing on the activities.
The Montessori Schools Association held their annual conference in March. All the teachers from Rushmore House Montessori Day Nursery and Orpington Montessori Preschool attended. Ms Shahroudi, the Group Manager says:
"Our staff benefit from the learning experience of the conference and the comradeship of their fellow Montessorians. Many settings only send their manager and deputy manager. We pay the registration fees for all our staff because of the benefits this brings to the preschools and the children."
Using the money raised by parents we have purchased some coloured counting balls for outside. The balls are arranged on a string in fives so that the child can move the balls to count and make a connection of two fives makes ten.
Marie Minne celebrated her 106th Birthday in Belgium. They released 106 birthday balloons; attached to the ends on these was a card with Marie's address. The children, from both Orpington and Rushmore House Montessori, were walking to the wood, during a Forest School session. By chance they found one of these balloons on the pathway. The children made balloons and stuck them onto a large banner The banner had a map showing the journey of the balloon and a birthday card from the preschools. It has been a very exciting experience for all the children and we hope that she will like the birthday card.
We have recently purchased some black boards in the shapes of dinosaurs, we used the money raised by the parents at the annual family fun day. These give the children the freedom to choose what they want to draw. The boards inspire their creativity and allow them to express themselves.
